School Hosts "Diversity Issues" Mini-Summit Thursday, September 24, 2009
The faculty of the Wayne State University School of Library and Information Science cordially invites you to attend our second annual “Library Issues Mini Summit” on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center on our campus in midtown Detroit. The focus of this year’s mini-summit, which will be co-hosted by the School’s Diversity Council, is “Diversity in Libraries.” We invite librarians and other information professionals from across the region to help us consider what steps we can take to recruit a more diverse workforce, how we can recruit more students from under-represented groups to a career in library and information science, and how we can infuse a consideration of diversity issues across our graduate school curriculum.
The day’s events will feature keynote presentations by Ms. Sandra Phoenix, Director of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Library Alliance in Atlanta, and Ms. Nonie Price, Alumni Relations and Continuing Education Coordinator for the University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science. Also included are a continental breakfast, lunch, and small group discussion sessions. There is no cost to attend and free parking will be available.
Space is limited. To register for this event, please visit our website:
