New Student Scholarship Application
SIS New Student Scholarships are competitive, merit-based awards targeted for new MLIS and MSIM students who intend to enroll in the School for the Fall 2020 semester. The School's goal is to recruit high achieving, motivated students who will contribute to the SIS learning community both on-campus and online. The awards will cover two INF courses: one in Fall 2020, one in Winter 2021 (approximately $5000).
Eligible nominees must:
- be admitted to SIS MLIS or MSIM program, AND
- begin their Master's program in Fall 2020, AND
- be enrolled for a minimum of 3 graduate credits each in Fall 2020 and Winter 2021.
Students are eligible only if they will not receive other forms of Graduate School funding for AY 2020-2021 (e.g. Graduate Professional Scholarship). Other requirements/stipulations:
To apply, please complete the application below. Students must upload a personal statement between 250 and 500 words stating their educational background and professional objectives as they relate to their academic excellence, achievement and leadership experiences.
In order to be considered, applicants must be admitted to the MLIS or MSIM program by the application deadline date of June 7, 2020.
Applicants may request a recommendation letter (but it is not required) from one individual who can assess their academic or professional qualifications. In order to be considered, the recommendation letters must be received by by 11:59 pm on June 7, 2020. Please e-mail them to sis.admissions@wayne.edu. SUBJECT: New Student Scholarship, Applicant's Name. If a recommendation letter was previously submitted for the Gradute Professional Scholarship, the applicant may send an email to sis.admissions@wayne.edu to request that their previously submitted letter of recommendation be included in this application.
