10 More Ways that Public Libraries are Using Pinterest

My last blog listed 10 ways public libraries use Pinterest to Pinterest and librariesinterest patrons in their missions. Here are 10 more ideas!

1. Staff and its picks. Introduce your staff to the public, including a picture and short blurb about each person. Also let patrons know what books the staff recommends.
2. Commemoration. Beverly Public Library in Massachusetts honors Fenway Park's 100th anniversary with a board of Fenway Park titles. It also has a board remembering the Titanic.
3. Trends. Play-up popular titles such as the Hunger Games series by posting a board like Westerville Library in Ohio by highlighting all things related to the titles or view the Downton Abbeyboard from the New York Public Library.

4. Book group bags. The Bernardsville Public Library in New Jersey pins its collection of bags for book clubs to borrow. Each bag contains 10 books, a reader's guide, author information, and reviews.
5. Digital and audio collections. Let patrons know what audio and e-books your library carries by creating a bulletin board.
6. Pins of the library itself. Show off the inside and outside of your library with photos. Patrons may not be aware of a new renovation or new additions to your library's artwork, such as murals or sculptures. View pins of the New York Public Library as well as the Carnegie-Stout Public Library. Fullerton Libraryhas a board dedicated to libraries around the world.

8. Summer Reading Program. Display pins of the library's summer events, especially pins of prizes patrons can win for participating in the summer reading program.
