Alumna Receives International Travel Award

Susan Matveyeva, LibSci '01, is the 2010 recipient of the American Library Association (ALA) International Relations Committee's Bogle-Pratt International Library Travel Fund. Matveyeva is currently an associate professor and cataloging and institutional repository librarian at Wichita State University.

The Bogle Memorial Fund and the Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science will provide a $1,000 cash award for Matveyeva to attend her first international conference, the Fifth International Conference on Open Repositories hosted by the Spanish Science and Technology Foundation (FECYT) and the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), in Madrid, Spain.
At the conference she will present a paper titled "Automated Submission of Metadata to DSpace using Excel and XML". Mateveyva believes that attending this conference will benefit the repository's service to Wichita State University students, faculty and staff. She plans to implement best practices learned at the conference to improve the University's research and learning digital environment.
"We are pleased to support her travel as she shares her insights on current trends in library technology development with an international audience," said Barbara Ford, Bogle Pratt Committee Chair.
This award is in recognition of Sarah Comly Norris Bogle, a prominent U.S. librarian who made notable contributions to international library service. Matveyeva will be recognized during the ALA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.
