Alumni Celebrate New School of Library and Information Science

On June 4, 2009 SLIS alumni, faculty and special friends gathered at McGregor Memorial Conference Center for the Spring Alumni Reunion and Reception and to celebrate the official establishment of Wayne State University's School of Library and Information Science. WSU Provost Nancy Barrett saluted the School's continuing success and invited alumni to return and enroll in any one of the new certificate programs it offers. Dean of University Libraries Sandra Yee explained how the newly conferred status and increased resources would better enable the School to fulfill its mission to educate library leaders of tomorrow. SLIS Director Stephen Bajjaly shared some of the School's current projects such as the upcoming 3rd floor Kresge renovation. He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the accomplishments of previous directors Joseph Mika, Robert Holley, and Dian Walster, SLIS faculty, all in attendance, upon which the School's foundations have been built.

Thank you to all who attended!
