Interested in learning how librarians impact patient care, health policy and health research? Join Mark MacEachern, Informationist for the Taubman Health Sciences Library at the University of Michigan, for INF 7610 Health Sciences Information Services and Resources (CRN 17389).

The class will give students experience with the type of work health sciences librarians engage in while exploring the exciting, unique aspects of health sciences librarianship. Students will interact with librarians in the profession, participate in a journal club as health professionals commonly do, develop skills with the most important (and open!) health database in the world (PubMed), and create a presentation as if they were teaching health professionals how to more effectively find the information they need to treat patients and conduct their research.

According to MacEachern, "Ultimately, I think that health information professionals are leading the change and innovation in the broader profession (through reconfiguring of space, adoption of technology, participation in research, etc.), and each week will touch on that in some way."
