Dr. Joan Beaudoin received tenure and was promoted to associate professor, effective August 2016. Dr. Beaudoin's teaching responsibilities include information organization, digital libraries, metadata and digital preservation.
Dr. Timothy Bowman joined SIS as an assistant professor. His area of research interest includes applying social, psychological, linguistic, and philosophical theories and methods to the study of scholarly communication, altmetrics, open science, the academic reward system, and the presentation of self in online environments.
Dr. Peter Hook, traveled to Malta in early February 2017 to present at the Observatory for Knowledge Organization Systems, an event organized by the Department for Library Information and Archiving Sciences of the University of Malta and Wikimedia Community Malta. Dr. Hook's presentation was entitled "Visualizing Knowledge Organization Systems: Context, Frameworks, Steps, and Exemplars."
Dr. Kafi Kumasi was selected as 2016-2018 Research Fellow by the iSchool at the University of Illinois. She will be using this opportunity to focus on research related to educational inequalities in school libraries. Dr. Kumasi teaches courses on school library media, urban librarianship, multicultural services and resources, and research methods.
