Michigan Education Corps

Michigan Education Corps is looking for reading interventionists to help student become better readers. In Detroit, nine in 10 third graders struggles to read at grade level. You can make a difference by giving your time and talent to help students become successful A tutor helps a young student to readreaders and learners.

Interventionists serve kindergarten to third graders using one-on-one scripted interventions during school hours. No matter if you’re a current student or a recent grad, you can make a great tutor. No experience? No problem. Interventionists receive great training, so they are well equipped to help students grow.

Part- and full-time positions are available. Opportunities begin in January 2021.

  • Earn up to $4,336.50 for college tuition or federal student loans. Tutors 55 and older may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.

Beyond Basics

Beyond Basics is hiriting tutors for part-time seasonal work (generally 30-35 hours per week during the school year).

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the program manager or lead tutor, reading tutors meet with students one-on-one or in small groups at assigned schools in the Beyond Basics Tutoring Program. Tutoring Sessions are held Monday to Friday during school hours for approximately one hour or during after-school programs as scheduled.

Beyond Basics is a student and family-centered, literacy-focused nonprofit organization that provides one-on-one reading tutoring and literacy enrichment programs for K-12 students.
