Metropolitan Detroit Medical Libraries Group Health Sciences Student Award

The Metropolitan Detroit Medical Libraries Group invites all SLIS students to apply for the annual student scholarship award. The MDMLG Health Sciences Student Award applies to students currently enrolled in the School of Library and Information Science at Wayne State University who display an interest in health sciences. The Student Award includes a $200 cash award, one year membership to MDMLG including access to the MDMLG Newsletter and attendance to the MDMLG Summer Luncheon.

MDMLG is a channel for communication for its members which are comprised of professional, paraprofessionals and students in biomedical libraries. Current membership represents hospital, academic and special libraries in southeastern Michigan. This organization provides a mechanism for studying common problems, working on joint projects and enhancing the quality of service in biomedical libraries. It provides professional and social contact with interesting and innovative colleagues. It also provides continuing education opportunities. Recent offerings have included: EBM study design, evaluating research articles, technology planning for libraries and proving your worth. A Jobs Bank is also maintained to provide information on job opportunities for members. Quarterly meetings are held at members institutions and provide additional educational enrichment. Many Student Award's winners have gone on to fulfilling jobs within the MDMLG membership.
