The School of Library and Information Science is pleased to announce the immediate availability of an additional MLIS specialization: Digital Content Management (DCM).

Development of the new DCM courses was fast-tracked by the School's faculty to respond to the vastly increasing number of available professional positions in this burgeoning area of library and information science. New DCM specialization courses include Digital Libraries (LIS 7900), Metadata (LIS 7910), Digital Curation and Preservation (LIS 7920), and a Digital Content Practicum (LIS 7700).

The DCM specialization enables SLIS students to participate actively in the development of digital content and digital preservation services to meet the needs of the increasingly digital information environment in which we operate. This specialization allows SLIS students to gain specialized knowledge and skills through coursework and collaborative work with professionals working in local institutions.

The course objectives focus on learning how to provide access to digital content, process data and digital materials, manage digitization projects and programs, and implement digital preservation strategies.
