SIS Faculty Receive Funding for Big Data and Autism Research

SIS faculty Dr. Xiangmin Zhang and Dr. Deborah Charbonneau teamed up with colleagues from Computer Science and Education at WSU for a research project to examine health disparities among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This project is in response to the Provost's request for research proposals to strengthen the artificial intelligence (AI), big data & analytics ecosystem on campus. The team will use AI and machine learning methods to analyze autism-related research data to investigate variables associated with improved health and social outcomes for children with ASD. The team also includes Dr. Shiyong Lu from Computer Science and Dr. Leah Ketcheson (PI) from the College of Education.

More information about the research project will be forthcoming from the WSU Provost's Office. Winning this $10,000 competitive grant award helps to enhance and reinforce the school's position as leaders in data science on campus.

Congratulations to Drs. Zhang and Charbonneau!"¯
