Before joining the Library and Information Science Program in 1991, Field worked in special, academic, public and government libraries for over 20 years . She has been active in the American Library Association, American Society for Information Science & Technology, Special Libraries Association where she was its president from 1997-98 and the International Federation of Libraries and Association.
