Angela Stanley: RUSL Fellow 2021
My name is Angela Stanley and I am a high school English teacher with eight years of experience teaching grades 9-12. I graduated in 2020 with a master's degree in Teacher Leadership from Oakland University, and received my bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Eastern Michigan University.
My classroom is a peaceful, orderly, thoughtful space where students are seen, known, and loved. Over the years I have built a classroom library while simultaneously supporting Little Free Libraries in Detroit and the surrounding area.Students from all over the building come to check out books through my mini-library system and sharing my love of reading with them is the highlight of my day! In addition to my work with students, I am a lover of books, baking, learning, traveling, and my dog Winslow.
As a new member of the RUSL project I am excited to learn new skills and techniques within the field of library science, and create vibrant, connected learning spaces with a plethora of books and materials. I am looking forward to exploring all of the possibilities for a reimagined library in River Rouge High School that is designed exclusively for my students.
