Michelle Smith: RUSL Fellow 2021

I am Michelle Smith and I have been an educator for 25 years, teaching 21 years in the Harper Woods School District. I have a master's degree in Curriculum and Teaching and an Education Specialist in Administration. I have taught 4th grade and 6th grade classes and currently travel to two elementary buildings teaching a K-5 STEM specials class that I developed.
I love to read and share books with my students as well as gather donations for our two Little Free Libraries in front of our elementary buildings. I am extremely excited to be a part of Project RUSL and earn my School Library Certificate at Wayne State University! I look forward to learning how to reach my students as a media specialist, restore our library with relevant books, use Hip Hop to engage students, and hopefully create a makerspace within the media center.
